Recipe of the Month

Hot-Sweet Wings

3 pounds chicken wings

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup butter

6 ounces Louisiana-style hot sauce

1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

salt and pepper to taste

Place wings on a wire rack on a large baking sheet and broil until done - about 10 minutes per side - more if frozen

While they're cooking, put remaining ingredients in a small pot and simmer for about 15 minutes

When wings are done, place in a large mixing bowl, pour sauce over them and toss to cover.  Do this in manageable batches.

Serve with extra sauce, ranch or blue cheese dressing and a selection of fresh vegetables.

President's Report

Jessica SprousePresident's Report

April's NACE meeting covered the topic of "Marketing to Today's Bride".  The esteemed panel of experts revealed some very interesting statistics about today's bride and how she has evolved; How to create marketing pieces that capture her ever changing needs. What to do and what NOT to do in advertising. They also discussed an effective "elevator" speech and the importance of a clear, concise and to-the-point message to reach the targeted audience.

I am very lucky to be a member of NACE. The education I get from each and every monthly meeting is refreshing and it rejuvenates me to take on my career each day! It is important to surround yourself with passionate, professional experts like ALL of the members. I encourage you to use NACE to its full potential. I feel NACE is the best organization to belong to because of the Networking, Mentorship, Lead Sharing, Education, National and Local Leadership, not to mention it is FUN! This list could go on and on!

If you are not a member of NACE, I highly encourage you to join. I can guarantee that it will help you grow your business. Like everything you do in life, you get out of it what you put in to it. (By the way - May 21st, next Friday!! Is the last day of the New Member Spring membership campaign!)

If you are a member, get involved! Get involved by joining a committee. There are many committee positions and we would love to have you involved. Please do not hesitate to approach a Board Member or me if you have any questions or if you have a particular talent to share. We are always looking to execute creative, quality monthly meetings that include sought after education, trends and locations!

See you at the NACE EXPERIENCE! 2010 Conference, July 25 - 28, AUSTIN, TX!!

Meeting Sponsors

May at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort

Imagine driving up a circular drive with a beautiful bronze sculpture of horses running through a fountain.  The mist from the fountain cools the curtained breezeway. The valet greets you and sends you into the uniquely designed Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort.  You are ushered onto the patio for champagne and the sweet sounds of Lisa Pressman with the Lisa Pressman Ensemble. The butler passed Hors d'Oeuvres of Smoked Duck on Coconut Cornbread, Antipasto stack on French Baguette, Southwest Beef with Chipotle Aioli, & Spicy Shrimp with candied Pineapple and a stationed Cheese & Cracker Display with Dried Fruit and Grapes.  Also at the cocktail reception were Jill and Chris Smith of A2Z Photobooths.  They had us all cracking up at our silly photobooth pictures.  (He posted on the Phoenix NACE Facebook site.) They were even funnier the next day!

The Ballroom was lovely with décor arranged for by the Resort.  Dinner was delicious, both to look at and to consume.

Menu:

Salad ~ Frisee, Watercress & Endive Salad with Avocado, Fresh Mango & Toasted Almonds with Honey Lime Vinaigrette.  Chef 's Duo Entree ~ Pork Medallion with Apricot Gastrique, Seared Diver Scallop on Parsnip Puree with Oven Dried Tomato & Asparagus. Dessert ~ Chef's Trio Dessert - Mini Fruit Tart, Chocolate Cheesecake & Raspberry Butter Cream.

Marketing specialists gave us some insight on how to market in this economy and the changes and trends that we should all be dealing with. Our Specialists were Angie VanDaele - The Wedding Chronicle; Kristina Munoz - Arizona Weddings Magazine & Website; Annette Sellers - Phoenix Bride and Groom Magazine and Teri Ambrose - Arizona's Finest Wedding Sites Magazine

Special thanks go out to Allison Whitsett of the Doubletree and her staff for an elegant and delightful networking evening.

Many thanks to our meeting sponsors: Host Venue - Allison Whitsett with DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort,  Cocktail Hour Music - Lisa Pressman with Lisa Pressman Ensemble, and Photo Booth - Jill & Chris Smith with A2Z Photo Booths.
